While mined diamonds take millions of years to form, created diamonds are grown in days. Like mined diamonds, the rough created diamonds are cut and polished to perfection.

Are Created Diamonds Real Diamonds?

Yes. Created diamonds are chemically, physically, and optically identical to earth-grown diamonds. They possess the same hardness, fire, brilliance, and scintillation. The only difference is their origin—created diamonds are grown in a lab, not mined from the Earth.

Are "Created," "Lab-Grown," and "Lab-Created" Diamonds the Same?

Yes. These terms are synonyms and refer to diamonds grown in a lab under controlled conditions.

Created or Synthetic?

The correct term is "Created."

Synthetic diamonds refer to products made through chemical synthesis or combinations of materials.
Created diamonds, however, consist purely of carbon and are grown under conditions that replicate natural diamond formation.

Are Mi-Ya Diamond Gemstones Real or Imitation?

They are real. Mi-Ya Diamonds have the same physical, chemical, and optical properties as natural diamonds. The only difference is that they are grown above ground in a laboratory.

What is a Mi-Ya Diamond Created Diamond?

Mi-Ya Diamonds are true diamonds grown under laboratory conditions by replicating the high-pressure, high-temperature environment found deep within the Earth. This process produces diamonds with the same characteristics as natural diamonds, including color variations caused by nitrogen and boron.

How Hard is a Mi-Ya Diamond?

Mi-Ya Diamonds are pure diamonds and rate 10+ on the Mohs scale of hardness. Studies suggest that lab-grown diamonds may be slightly harder and less brittle than natural diamonds due to their ideal crystal structure and nitrogen dispersion.

How Do I Know My Mi-Ya Diamond is Real?

Every Mi-Ya Diamond comes with an independent grading report from a recognized gemological laboratory, clearly indicating its lab-grown origin.

Production and Characteristics

How are Diamonds Made?

Diamonds are made from carbon using either:

High Pressure High Temperature (HPHT) or
Chemical Vapor Deposition (CVD) methods.

Why are Blue and White Diamonds More Expensive than Yellow?

Yellow diamonds grow quickly due to nitrogen.
Blue diamonds, formed with boron, grow more slowly.
White (colorless) diamonds take the longest to grow, as they require minimal nitrogen, significantly slowing the process.

The time required for growth directly impacts the price.

How Do Lab-Grown Diamonds Compare to Mined Diamonds?

Blues: About 1/10th the cost of mined blue diamonds.
Yellows: About 1/4th the cost of mined yellow diamonds.
Whites: Comparable in price to mined white diamonds.

Sizes: Up to 2 carats for yellow, 1.25 carats for blue, and 1 carat for white diamonds.
Colors: Yellow, blue, and white. Additional colors like pink and green are available upon request.

Can I Customize My Order?

Yes, you can request specific colors, sizes, or shapes. Custom designs and waiting lists are also available for unique requests.

Do You Offer a Lifetime Trade-Up?

Yes. At any time, you can trade in your Mi-Ya Diamond and apply 100% of its value toward a new diamond of greater value.

Jewelry

Do You Sell Jewelry to Mount Diamonds?

We offer a wide range of jewelry, including eco-friendly settings in platinum, gold, and silver. Custom designs are also available.

What Metal Should I Choose?

Platinum or 18kt gold is recommended for engagement rings.
All our jewelry is nickel-free and hypoallergenic.

Technical

Are the Colors Permanent?

Yes. All as-grown colors (yellow, blue, and white) are stable and permanent. Treated colors, such as pink or green, are also stable under normal conditions.

Do Mi-Ya Diamonds Exhibit Fluorescence?

Most Mi-Ya Diamonds do not exhibit fluorescence. Some yellow diamonds may show weak fluorescence.

Can I Make a Diamond from Personal Carbon (e.g., Ashes or Hair)?

Technically, yes. Mi-Ya Diamonds can evaluate this on a case-by-case basis.
